Brian founded LegalZoom in 1999. With only $1M in total invested capital, Brian built the company into the most recognized legal brand in the US. Brian served as the founding CEO of LegalZoom until 2007, and Chairman from 2007 until 2018. Brian's new legaltech venture is Overture Law, a lawyer-to-lawyer referral platform. Before starting LegalZoom, Brian was a corporate attorney with Sullivan & Cromwell and Vice President – Legal at Oaktree Capital Management. Brian received his law degree from UCLA and graduated from UC Berkeley, Phi Beta Kappa, and with honors, in Biochemistry. Brian was a semi-finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year for Southern California and is an active angel investor in the start-up community.
